The Royal Harwich Yacht Club is a RYA Training Centre
Suffolk based on the east coast River Orwell, within easy reach of London and other surrounding areas. The Royal Harwich Yacht Club has a full time training manager supported by RYA qualified instructors. We offer a comprehensive range of RYA training courses along with our own training. These include:

We partner with Shearwater Sailing School who offer Yacht Courses: from day skipper theory and practical up to full Yachtmaster qualifications. You will find the booking links above.
RYA Powerboat Level 2 Training
The RYA PBII (level 2) course focuses on low speed close quarters handling, man overboard recovery, an introduction to driving at planing speed and collision regulations. This 2 day training course is designed for anyone wishing to gain their RYA Powerboat PBII certification.

The course is held at the Royal Harwich Yacht Club in Woolverstone, Ipswich IP9 1AT.
RYA Junior Training Weeks
Junior Training based on River Orwell, Ipswich, Suffolk we deliver certificated RYA Stages from 1-4. Members and Non-Members are welcome. The course will be led by a Senior Instructor and all groups run by fully qualified Dinghy Instructors.
RYA First Aid Training Course
RYA one day classroom based interactive training course at our yacht club based on the East Coast River Orwell, Suffolk. The course is MCA approved and satisfies the requirements for Coastal Skipper, Yachtmaster and those wishing to complete their Dinghy or Senior Instructor courses.
RYA VHF / SRC Radio Course – Suffolk
Based at Royal Harwich Yacht Club on the East Coast River Orwell, Suffolk, just an hour outside London. The day is spent training, finishing with an exam to provide you with your RYA VHF (Short Range Certificate) to operate a handheld or fixed radio on a yacht, powerboat or support boat.
Please note there is a £70 exam fee payable to RYA.
